Skinheads In Suits – Should skins wear suits?

POST SkinMarvin looks very smart in his current home-page photo, but should skins look so professional?

This is possibly a continuation of the “Reaction to Skin/Punk Look” forum, motivated by the very elegant looking gentleman portrayed on the home-page this month. Many of us (myself included) make compromises in life, and hold down “respectable” jobs during the week. In my case, this involves wearing a suit or similar clothes. I’ve always felt that I’m not a true “full-time skin” because I don’t live the life on a 24/7 basis and have never had visible tattoos and never had an obvious piercing. Is it possible to be a skin evenings and weekends, or am I kidding myself?

POST I agree with bootsuit – sharp suits and polished boots are part of the skin way of life. Wear ‘em with pride!

POST Skinheads wearing suits is a traditional expression and gives a nod to the rude boys who introduced ska to the uk. any skin who is aware of their roots and history should know this…offset the suit with a tri-folded hankie and stud to hold in place. looks great with a crombie too. depends if you’re into 24/7 skinhead way of life or as is put “plastic”…skinhead is a working class cult but there is a lot of snobbery in it. bootboy/oi skins often see suited skins as more mod…skinhead is a myriad of expression and political choices.

POST You should go to a Bad Manners gig – there are usually a few old traditional skins, properly suited and booted. They certainly loolked smart at last week’s gig in Stratford

You don’t have to have visible tattoos and boots touching your kneecaps to be a Skinhead!
